Launch of ”Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology” study program

The Faculty of Pharmacy of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova will launch this year the 3-year bachelor's degree program in Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology. The new study program is focused on training specialists in the development, evaluation and responsible use of cosmetic and dermatocosmetic products. At the same time, the program contributes to the formation of professional skills in professional counseling of beneficiaries, interdisciplinary collaboration with dermatologists and other health specialists, as well as participation in research and development activities of innovative products.

During the three years, students will complete practical internships in university facilities, cosmetology offices, community pharmacies, and dermato-cosmetic production units.

Program graduates can work in the cosmetic and dermato-cosmetic industry, in cosmetic product manufacturing companies, formulation departments, quality control and assurance, research and development, standardization and regulation, evaluation of cosmetic and dermatocosmetic products, as well as in monitoring their safety (cosmetovigilance). Graduates can also engage in professional activity in medical cosmetology offices, dermatology clinics and medical aesthetics centers, in collaboration with the specialist doctor, playing a part in the performance of cosmetic procedures, counseling patients and applying individualized cosmetic care plans developed by the specialist doctor.

Graduates of the Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology program can work as specialists in cosmetic counseling, product trainers, medical representatives or specialists in marketing and management of cosmetic products. The skills acquired during the studies will allow employment in laboratories for analysis and control of cosmetic products, as well as in institutions or entities responsible for assessing the conformity, safety and quality of cosmetic products. Another important direction of employment is the commercial and consulting sector, especially in community pharmacies, specialized stores, distribution companies and dermato-cosmetic brands representative jobs. Moreover, the program provides the necessary basis for initiating entrepreneurial activities in the field of medical cosmetics.
